Draft 1 Reflection
One of the recommended pieces for the informative essay was global warming. However I thought that the topic has been done a hundred times over and we just end up hearing the same thing over and over. There are subtopics within the umbrella of global warming though so I figured it would be more interesting to explore those. My main concern while writing the essay was to express the importance of our draining supplies of water without sounding like I support the solutions I would later present. A lot of the sources online would advocate for taking direct action such as desalination in order to preserve water. I did not want to fall into the trap of agreeing with them while giving an unbiased explanation. It would be easy to lose train of thought and paint one aspect as more desirable than the other.
I feel my sources are also a little outdated, many are over 5 years old and one of them is over 10. Except when compiling data like this it does take time to compile a timeline, analyze results and get published. I would like to look for more recent data that can be used in order to further explain the situation at hand. Many of the concerns of these old articles seem to still be holding up today so I doubt there will be much change. Technology has improved but if situation had as well something probably would have been said about it by now. Those are just assumptions however and if there are any reports that are more recent it will be easier to tell.
